Curriculum Guide

At UMS, our students will achieve excellence. Our students will be academically excellent, behaviorally excellent, mentally excellent, socially excellent, and emotionally excellent. This mindset is vital to our work as a staff and school community. During the school year, the goal will be to embrace excellence in all parts of the student’s day. Below you will find a document that will share how we will achieve both academic excellence and behavioral excellence.

The curriculum guide portion of this document will be a brief description of each of the classes available to UMS students. This blueprint for learning has been aligned with the common core standards, utilizes district adopted curriculum, and assures that our teachers use high yield instructional practices and pedagogy to engage all students in the learning process.

The student handbook portion of this document will include detailed student policies and building level procedures that all students will be expected to follow as UMS students. The goal is for all UMS students to be prepared for high school when they are promoted after their 8th grade year. To prepare for this we must give all students access to a meaningful and rigorous curriculum, we must hold students accountable for their actions and behavior daily to promote an overall learning culture within the building, and as a staff we must support our students with tiers of support to help lift them up if necessary along the way.

Please know that in order for our school to achieve overall excellence, we will need staff and family support on all levels. Please reach out to the school if you have any questions or concerns at any time.
